Chefs Open Their Doors For Taste Of Venice Tour

Sip and sample your way down Abbot Kinney this Sunday on a tasting tour led by some of LA's best chefs and culinary experts at the annual Taste of Venice fundraiser benefiting children's art education.

Festivities begin at an opening ceremony held at the Electric Lodge from 3 to 4:30 p.m. where 21 local restaurants, from Superba Food + Bread on Lincoln Blvd to Poke Poke on the Boardwalk, will offer small bites and cocktails during a silent auction. This is where tasting tour groups will meet-up before heading over to get a taste of all that Abbot Kinney has to offer.

Tasting Tours run from 4 to 6:30 p.m. led by "tastemaker" tour guides, such as Jon Shook, owner of Animal & Son of a Gun, Jennifer Sommer of Sommer Dish and west coast correspondent for Food & Wine, and chef Matthew Poley of Heirloom LA. So be ready for extra helpings of food, wine, and local expertise as you make your way through 14 stops along Abbot Kinney. See the list of participating restaurants, cafes and juiceries below.

There are also two special interest tours including one for singles, and one for veggie lovers. For veggie lover who also happens to adore Sriracha, this one's not to be missed as it will be led by Randy Clemens, author of The Sriracha Cookbook and The Veggie-Lover’s Sriracha Cookbook, and co-organizer of the LA & San Diego Sriracha Festivals.

Meet back at the post reception from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for coffee and treats. Be sure to try the delicious made-in-Venice Sweetness Of Being chocolates, made by the Sarah Engelhart who we recently featured on Lincoln & Rose. Read the story here.

Tickets are $125 per person for the full day, and that includes opening ceremony, tasting tour and closing reception. All funds raised from ticket sales support P.S. Arts, an organization based here in Venice, on Abbot Kinney, that provides yearlong arts education in dance, visual arts, music, and theater arts to children in underserved public school and communities.
