Venice Art Crawl To Host Spring Block Party
Performance art and live music will highlight the first Venice Art Crawl of the year on Thursday March 19 from 6 to 10 p.m. with the hub of activity taking place at a block party just off Abbot Kinney.
On the north side of the boulevard, Westminster Ave. will be blocked off between Abbot Kinney and Riviera Ave. making way for a variety of art exhibitions, live painting, and a main stage for music performances. There's also going to be a kiddie drum circle so little ones can get involved in the evening's activities. Nearby Abbot Kinney boutiques including In Heroes We Trust, Junk Food Clothing, and others will add to the festivities with in-store art exhibits and other enticements including discounts and refreshments.
On the south side, Alexis Bittar jewelry boutique will be pouring champagne to match its sparkling spring collection at a 25th anniversary party highlighting pieces designed with Lucite. And around the corner on Venice Blvd., artHAUS LA will be wrapping up Verve, a five-day music, art and fashion exhibit with a closing party at that mega makeshift event space where everyone raged at Daybreaker.
As always, several more enticing Art Crawl events will be taking place all throughout the neighborhood. We're excited to check out some of the original works from LA artist Shplinton exhibited at the new Sole Bicycles showroom on Main. The good news is that if you can't make it in time during the crawl, it'll be up for a month. There's also a new gallery on Lincoln called Paste. They'll be hosting a little soiree featuring the photography of Venice local Natalie Obermaier. It's in the former China Inn. You know, that dispensary at Indiana Ave. Now it's a cool new gallery.
